Before you do anything, ensure your passport will be valid for your entire trip and check the timeframe for getting visas for the countries you want to visit as this may be an issue that will just flat out prevent you from going, especially if you are planning a last minute trip. However, if you live in a wealthy country then you may not need a visa, or can get a visa on landing for a nominal fee; so check your countries government site for visa requirements for travelling to your destination country.
