I think a huge part of the problem is that much of the party faithful are not game, or incapable of critical reflection. Using every mental trick to self-deceive into positions that simply don’t stand up to rational scrutiny. Any variation in thinking is met with bullying. Every dodgy position is pushed with a thin spin, that the faithful desperately cling to in the face of overwhelming counter evidence provided by reality.
The time is truly ripe for a rational Conservative party to wipe the floor clean of the stain that is the current LNP.
